SOCA is excited to announce several upcoming referee certification courses designed to help you get started or advance in officiating soccer matches in our community.
Recreational (Rec) Certifications

These in-house training sessions prepare new referees to work recreational games in Charlottesville and Albemarle. Rec certification is a great entry point into refereeing. A referee t-shirt, whistle, and card book are provided during training.
Full USSF Certification
- Sunday, December 21, 2025
Time: 1:00 PM – 5:00 PM
Location: SOCA Field House
This official U.S. Soccer Federation course, delivered through local instruction, provides comprehensive training. Successful completion qualifies referees to work all local matches, including travel games in Greene, Nelson, and beyond.
